Why Project and Program Management?
In today's global marketplace, complexity and speed are certainties. In such an environment, a good axiom for project management is:
Do It ... Do It Right ... Do It Right Now!
Creating clear direction, efficiency, timely response, and quality outcomes requires project teams and leaders who are agile -- adept at change. Experienced Project Managers provide the expertise, background, and judgment needed for you to accomplish these goals
What is project management?
A project is a temporary endeavor undertaken to achieve a particular aim and to which project management can be applied, regardless of the project's size, budget, or timeline.
Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to a broad range of activities in order to meet the requirements of a particular project. At a higher level, these disciplines provide a methodology by both standardizing and reducing the basic tasks necessary to complete any project in the most effective and efficient manner. This systematic and repeatable approach is the key to long-term value optimization.
History of Project Management
The phrase "project management" began to emerge in the late 1950s and early 1960s when the size, scope, duration, and resources required for new projects began to deserve more analysis and attention. Today, project management is used globally by multi-billion-dollar corporations, governments, and smaller organizations alike as a means of meeting their customers' or constituents' needs.
